Here and There and Everywhere

I'm taking a breather from my Common Core posts for a bit, but will return with info. on performance tasks and assessments next month.

I have been traveling like crazy for the past few weeks. My writerly imagination cache overflows in new surroundings.

Is the gate to Narnia in Central Park?

Do I dare pass through the tunnel?

Will I meet my prince?

Where are the folks who usually sit on this bench?

If I have the luxury of a few free hours, I'll make tracks to a museum to...

Go back in time

I take tons of pictures and scribble pages of bullet points in my journal, stealing settings, details, people, conversations, accents, and magic as I travel.

How do you fill your imagination cache when you are away from home?

  1. Those are awesome photos! I would love to visit those 2 cities one of these days :) Travelling does fill up that cache!

  2. Looks like you've been having fun! Great shots. A camera is a must for traveling for me, and I tend to go a little wild with it :) But it certainly is nice to get some free time to explore!

  3. You were on my coast?! Hope you enjoyed your visit.

I jot notes on my Kindle or phone. My husband is the family photographer so if I see something I know I need to remember later, I just ask him to snap a pic. He's been asked often enough that he doesn't mind. And the last time we were in Paris, he bore with me as I walked around the neighborhood where one of my books is set, muttering to myself and asking him to take pictures of the street and random buildings.

  4. Wow, wow, wow. Such beauty! Hopefully you didn't bring home that chair and expect us to sit on it. My back isn't that tall :)

  5. Great pictures! Great inspiration! My eyes, pictures they feed my soul!!
    Hope you enjoyed yourself.

  6. Hallelujah for digital pix and camera phones. No going back to the days of waiting for film to be developed to see if the pic is viable.

  7. Your travels look like so much fun. I love NYC and the MET is one of my favorite places to visit. There is so much to take in! When I travel I love to take notes in my journal and pictures are a must. Thanks for sharing your travels with us. Glad you got to get away!

  8. Thanks for sharing these pictures. What a chair!

  9. I love taking pictures. I find New York to be an inspiration. I can't wait to go back later this year.

  10. Wonderful imaginings. You made my feet itchy to go away and see a different part of the world.
